Shopify / 2021 – Present

Growing from a Senior to Staff Product Designer at Shopify, I’ve worked on numerous improvements and a couple of large initiatives such as leading the product design from start to launch of Business Customers for Shopify’s B2B solution. I’m now working on something new launching in 2024!

Think Research / 2016 – 2021

At Think Research, I worked with a cross-discipline team on solving problems in the healthcare space. I researched, designed and validated new products, features and improvements for the company’s entire suite of healthcare products. Over five years, I helped launch four new products: MedRec, CarePortal, VirtualCare, and FormDesigner.

MedRec digitizes a previously paper-based medication safety process for hospitals to ensure patients are receiving the correct medication. As the sole designer, it was crucial to understand the safety process and validate designs early and often with clinicians.

CarePortal increases patients’ visibility into and management of their specialist referrals, while VirtualCare improves patients’ access to their family doctor or walk-in clinic through virtual appointments. Both focused on designing an experience for a broad demographic of patients, while being robust enough to serve doctors’ needs.

FormDesigner is a WYSIWIG tool for Think Research’s internal consulting team to build custom medical orders for hospitals. I worked closely with users and other designers to shape usability improvements and new features pre and post-launch.

Pivot Design Group / 2010 – 2016

I first cut my teeth on research methodologies, user experience, and product design when Pivot transformed from a graphic design studio to a user experience studio in 2010-2011.

Growing from a junior to a senior designer at this small studio made me well-versed in the design process from end-to-end: from interfacing with clients and leading projects, to working with technology partners and production vendors. Wearing multiple hats gave me experience in research, info architecture, data visualization, interaction design, and project management.

At Pivot, I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations large and small including the likes of:

Prior to 2010

I studied graphic design at York University and Sheridan College, graduating with a Bachelor of Design with Honours. In addition to design and critical thinking, my drive for learning led me to pursue a smorgasbord of studies including digital arts, fine arts, music, statistics, psychology, microbiology and virology.

After graduating, I worked for a number of small graphic design studios designing everything from logos to annual reports before moving to Pivot Design Group.
